When that happens, you should not simply click DOWNLOAD.  There&#8217;s  <a href=\"https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/the-best-way-to-get-flash\/\" title=\"The best way to get Flash Updates (Hint: DON\u2019T click DOWNLOAD) - https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/the-best-way-to-get-flash\/\">a better way to get Flash Updates<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But, what if, for whatever reason you want to manually make the flash update notifcation pop-up window appear, at will, whenever you want?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a hard search on Google.  I only found 2 hits:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.guidingtech.com\/16153\/force-manual-update-adobe-flash-player-windows\/\" title=\"Force Manual Update Adobe Flash Player Windows - http:\/\/www.guidingtech.com\/16153\/force-manual-update-adobe-flash-player-windows\/\">Force Manual Update Adobe Flash Player Windows<\/a> on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guidingtech.com\" title=\"http:\/\/www.guidingtech.com\">guidingtech.com<\/a>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/forums.adobe.com\/message\/7061350#7061350\" title=\"How do I trigger a Flash Player update? - https:\/\/forums.adobe.com\/message\/7061350#7061350\">How do I trigger a Flash Player update?<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/forums.adobe.com\/\" title=\"Adobe Forums\">Adobe Forums<\/a> (i actually provided the response on this one; same as i included here, below)\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>My Answer:<\/h1>\n<p>In Windows 7,<\/p>\n<p>Start -&gt; type &#8220;<code class=\"bold_lite\">cmd<\/code>&#8221; into the search box (without the quotes)<\/p>\n<p>Windows should find a program named <code class=\"bold_lite\">cmd<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Click on it to start command prompt.<\/p>\n<p>A black text window should appear, with a prompt and cursor, like the one below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/cmd_window.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"677\" height=\"390\" src=\"https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/cmd_window.jpg\" alt=\"cmd_window\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/cmd_window.jpg 677w, https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/cmd_window-300x172.jpg 300w, https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/cmd_window-500x288.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 677px) 100vw, 677px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At the prompt you want to run the <code class=\"bold_lite\">FlashUtil<\/code> program with the <code class=\"bold_lite\">-update plugin<\/code> argument but the problem is that<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\nThe version number changes with each update, and\n<\/li>\n<li>\nOver time, adobe changes where in the file system it stores this file\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>So, you will probably have to search for a similar program.  Once you find it, replace mine below with the program you found, and the path you found it in.<\/p>\n<p>The following command works today on my system. As you can see i&#8217;m currently on version 14.0.0.145 (I will be upgrading to version 16.0.0.235 today.)<\/p>\n<pre class=\"mm\">C:\\Windows\\System32\\Macromed\\Flash\\FlashUtil32_14_0_0_145_plugin.exe -update plugin<\/pre>\n<p>Running this command (with the right <code class=\"bold_lite\">FlashUtil exe<\/code> file, once you find it) produces the familiar flash update notification window popup, which looks like this (for the v16.0.0.235 update):<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<a href=\"https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/flash_update_notification_window.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"656\" height=\"358\" src=\"https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/flash_update_notification_window.jpg\" alt=\"flash_update_notification_window\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/flash_update_notification_window.jpg 656w, https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/flash_update_notification_window-300x163.jpg 300w, https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/flash_update_notification_window-500x272.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n[This specific example is for the v16.0.0.235 update]\n<\/div>\n<p>.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nNow i would NOT click DOWNLOAD, that&#8217;s not <a href=\"https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/the-best-way-to-get-flash\/\" title=\"The best way to get Flash Updates (Hint: DON\u2019T click DOWNLOAD) - https:\/\/montgomeryminds.com\/blog\/the-best-way-to-get-flash\/\">the best way to get Flash Updates<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adobe will prompt you from time to time when a new update to Flash Player is available.
